This study examines and analyzes various aspects of the labor market related to the Information Technology (IT) industry in Uruguay and the need for specialized professionals in this field.
To carry out this research, information collected by the Advice Labor Monitor—a periodic source—was used, along with data from various job portals and online job boards in Uruguay.
The main objective was to understand the most prominent demands and requirements for talent in the field of information technology in the country.
The study period spanned from November 2023 to October 2024, and comparisons were made with previous measurements, allowing for the observation of medium- and short-term trends.
One of the most significant findings of the study is that, during the analyzed period, the total demand across all activity groups on different portals and job boards reached 68,882 job postings, of which 13,240 (19%) were related to IT—either because they were requested by IT companies or because they were IT positions requested by non-IT companies. Of these, 9,314 job postings came from the information technology sector (13.5% of the total), making it the third-largest sector in terms of demand. The remaining 3,926 postings corresponded to non-IT positions within IT companies.
Indeed, the analysis reaffirms the relevance of both technology specialists and professionals with diverse educational backgrounds within the IT sector and confirms the existence of a labor market for IT professionals beyond the tech industry.
In summary, the 13,240 job postings related to IT analyzed in this report represent a 19% decrease compared to the previous measurement.
