This study describes and analyzes some components of the labor market associated with the Uruguayan IT industry and the demand for specialized talent in the ICT field in the country.
The research took as input information from the Labor Monitor that Advice periodically prepares and was based on the review and systematization of information from the different job portals and virtual job boards in force in Uruguay between May and October 2020, in order to understand what are the main demands and requirements of talent in the national IT industry at present.
With the objective of focusing on the IT sector, the subset of calls that met one of the following criteria was selected:
- Calls requiring skills, knowledge or experience associated with ICT.
- Calls categorized within the "IT", "Systems" or "Technology" branches of activity.
- Calls belonging to companies in the IT sector.
A database was created with 2516 calls closely linked to the IT sector.
This database provides information on the company, the characteristics of the job call, the geographical location of the job, the date, among other general aspects. From the description of the calls, we proceeded to the codification of the available information on the positions sought, by means of different variables of interest.
